after the show

Jeff gave each of the girls a rose when the show as over.  They were so excited.  He may have never envisioned his life sitting in dance recitals, but he loves watching his girls dance.  He gets just as excited as I do to watch them dance and he makes sure they know he thinks they are the most beautiful girls in there fancy costumes. I am sure they will always remember that their daddy was one of their biggest supporters in every activity they try.  They are very, very lucky little girls.

true colors

Heidi got to come back on the stage to do a ballet number to "True Colors."  This girl is a beautiful ballerina.  It was so fun to see how much she has learned.  The recital is such a neat experience for the girls.  It is quite a production.  They use Brad Paisley's light crew and it is incredible.  It was a terrific show and Caimbree sat quietly watching every single dance.  We are so glad we are able to give our girls this experience!

born to entertain

Savanna's class danced to a cute song called, "Born to Entertain." We were so proud of Savanna!  Truthfully, I didn't know what to expect.  I didn't know if she would do the dance or stand there too scared to move.  It turns out, she did every single part of the dance!  It was so fun to watch her and I was so happy she enjoyed it and had a great time!  I think she loved the costume more than anything, but she did a great job on the stage and said she can't wait to do it again next year!

can't stop the feelin'

I have so many recital pictures, so I will just split it by dance.  Heidi's class did a tap number to "Can't Stop the Feelin'".  It was the cutest dance and it was definitely Heidi's favorite dance that she has ever done in four years of dance. Each girl had a partner and she got to be partners with her friend, Avery.  They were so fun to watch because they were just grinning at each other the whole time.  Heidi really has learned so much and it is so fun to watch her on the stage.  She has absolutely no fear when it comes to the stage and loves to be there!

pre-recital

The recital was Saturday morning.  I felt a lot of stress leading up to the recital...mostly just trying desperately to make sure they were both healthy!  It seems like we have had lots of weird little illnesses going on for awhile, but thankfully everyone was healthy for the show.

The girls woke up so excited to get ready.  It was a busy morning of getting dressed, doing hair and makeup, taking pictures, and getting out the door.  Heidi was so over the top excited to get on the stage.  Savanna seemed a little nervous and kept asking questions about what would happen, but she was excited too.

It is fun to have two of them doing dance, although it feels like a long season.  I keep wondering when we should call it quits because it's getting more expensive each year and Caimbree will start next year, but they always beg to keep dancing, so I guess we will keep going for a little longer.  I am so proud of both of them for working so hard this year.  They are learning so much and seem to enjoy every single minute!

dance pictures

Dance has come to a close for this season!  This is Heidi's fourth year of dance.  Her class does both tap and ballet and she loves them both equally.  I have never heard her complain once about going to dance.  She absolutely loves it.  This year her best friend in her school class, Avery, was also in her dance class, which made it extra fun.

Heidi was so excited because this year her class was doing so well that they got to perform both a tap and ballet number in the recital.  This meant she got to get on stage twice and wear two different costumes.  She also got to dance to two songs from the movie, Trolls, which just so happens to be one of her very favorite movies.  She has always loved dance, but the combination of having class with Avery and dancing to songs she absolutely loves, made this year the happiest experience for her.

Savanna decided she was ready to be brave and do a class of her own.  Last year we put her in a 3 week trial class and it did not go well because she wasn't ready to leave me.  I was so incredibly proud of this girl this year.  She was so excited to go to class each week.  She was nervous about the recital, but also excited.  She made a cute friend in her class and danced to a song called, Born to Entertain.  It has been so fun to watch Savanna blossom this year!

skate party

Heidi has made a lot of friends and
she gets invited to a lot of parties. She was invited to her friend Jacklyn's skate party.  It was a good way to kick off summer.  The girls love to go roller skating! Even Caimbree skated today and she could not have been cuter and she is so excited to go again.  She and Savanna were good little buddies.  At one point Savanna tripped and Caimbree quickly helped her up.  It was so cute.  My favorite was when they all three were skating around together.  It was a fun afternoon!

chore sticks and workbooks

When we got home from the last day of school, the girls went straight to the workbooks I bought to use over the summer.  I tried to get them to do something else besides school work, but that is all they wanted to do!  I don't think the workbooks are going to last the whole summer at the rate they are going through them, but I am so happy they are excited to keep doing educational activities.

Once I pulled them away from the workbooks, we went outside to enjoy the beautiful day and then we painted some chore sticks to use for our summer chore system. They are super excited about their summer chores for now, but we will see how long that will last haha.

last day of school

The last day of school was on Thursday. I can't believe how much my girls have grown up.  This year just flew by.

Heidi had a fun morning in class with Muffins for Mom and Donuts for Dad.  Her teacher had made a cute DVD with pictures from the year and we got to see some of her work and some mother's and father's day gifts she had made.  Heidi was really sad that school was ending.  She loves school.  She loves learning and she really loves to be with her friends.  She had a really great year and we are so grateful that she was safe and loved while not in our care.  It is so hard for me to send the girls off for so long every day, but I know they are learning so much by having an opportunity to spread their wings a little bit.  I am so, so, so happy to have my Heidi girl home every day for the next few months.  It will be a great summer!

awards assembly

Thursday was the last day of school and also the awards assembly.  Heidi got an award for mastering all of the skills needed in kindergarten and she also got The Rock award!  The Rock Award is basically a citizenship award for one student in each class who really stood out as being an all around great student.  She was so excited and wore her medal proudly the rest of the day!  She couldn't believe she got it and kept saying, "Well, I think a lot of kids in my class deserved it too."  What a sweet girl.  We are so proud of the amazing person she is and feel lucky she is our sweet girl.

heidi's field day

Heidi had an exciting last week of school.  She earned enough reading points to have a special picnic on Monday and then on Tuesday she had her first field day.  Unfortunately I was not able to go that morning, but her friend's mom kept sending me photos and videos and I was so grateful for them!  She came home super happy and excited to tell us all of the fun things she did!  The weather was a little cooler and overcast that day, so it was perfect all around!

piano recital

Heidi started taking piano lessons in March.  Her teacher asked if she wanted to be a part of the recital.  She, of course, was more than happy to participate.  This sweet girl loves to be on a stage and I hope she always does. She has been learning to play so quickly and she loves her teacher and she can't wait for lessons each week.  Her friend, Hunter, from church also takes lessons from Ms. Teresa so they got to be in the recital together.  Heidi looked so pretty and she has the most perfect piano posture.  She looked like a natural and I could everyone behind us whispering about how cute she is.  When she was done playing, she got up and did a pretty little curtsy.  It was adorable.  When we were leaving she asked how long she had to wait until she could do it again.  I have never regretted all of the years of practice I had growing up and I hope all of the girls will learn to play the piano.
