temple work

The same weekend Heidi was baptized, we went to the temple and baptized grandma Heidi McLean and her sister in law, Vivienne.  Melissa and I did the work  I felt so strongly that I needed to do this work for grandma.  I was praying that I would be able to feel grandma near. I miss her so much.  As we neared the temple, we saw a beautiful rainbow and I really felt it was a sign from her.  On the day of Heidi's baptism, we sang the songs, "When I am baptized."  At that moment, I felt as if grandma was sitting next to me.  It was a special feeling and I am so grateful we able to baptize Heidi's namesake on the same weekend.  It was a very special weekend.

dentist visits

Before school started we had dentist and doctor visits. The girls were cavity free and healthy as cane be. I got a kick out of Heidi reading while she waited for the dentist.  I love how much she enjoys reading.  It makes my teacher heart happy!

disney on ice: frozen

I have always wanted to take the girls to Disney on Ice and when I saw that Frozen was coming to Nashville, we decided it was the perfect time to go!  All three of the girls are Frozen fanatics and they were so excited to go.  We absolutely love Nashville and the girls were excited to spend a night on the town.

The show was great and the girls were mesmerized.  Heidi and Caimbree especially loved it.  The show was late and Savanna has a hard time not being in bed on time so she kept telling me she wanted to go to bed, but she also enjoyed it.  We had a great and memorable night together!

a week with katlyn and bennett

The day after Jeff's parents left, our niece Katlyn and her son, Bennett, came to stay to wait out Hurricane Florence!  We were so excited to have them come and stay with us and we had such a wonderful time!  We went to the zoo, we fought over who got to play with Bennett, we played games, we decorated my entryway, and we just had a great time building relationships!  We love the family we have been blessed with and we couldn't have been more excited when Katlyn told us she would like to come back and spend Christmas with us!  We were grateful for the week we had together and can't wait to see her sweet family again soon!

fun with grandparents

Grandparents are the best and the only thing we don't like about living where we are is the distance from grandparents.  Grandma Hunziker always has fun ideas and activities and she brought some fun sling shots that lit up.  The girls had so much fun!

Savanna has always had a strong connection with Grandpa McLean.  She talks to him on FaceTime whenever she gets the chance and thinks playing hide and seek over FaceTime is about the best activity there could ever be.  It was no surprise she quickly found him and sat with him when she had the chance. One morning they spent time together reading the Friend magazine and giggling over the search and find.  It was so sweet.  Grandma McLean spent time working with Heidi on sewing and learning to read a pattern.  It was so great for the girls to have this time with their grandparents and we were so sad when the house was empty and and the grandparents were gone.

heidi's baptism

On September 1, our beautiful Heidi was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!  She was so excited and so ready for this special day.  She prepared herself with scripture study and we spent a lot of time talking to her about what this decision meant and how she would also be receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost.  She was so grateful that her dad would be the one performing these ordinances for her.  She was so cute leading up to her baptism and wanted to practice how to go under the water many times with Jeff.

We were so grateful to have family come from so far to support her in this big day in her life.  Jeff's parents and my parents both made the long trek to Tennessee and Eric and his family came down from Kentucky.

Heidi was able to share her day with one of her best friends, Lincoln.  She was so excited to be baptized on the same day and they planned the program together.  They talked on the phone and both hid in their rooms discussing the details.

When Jeff baptized Heidi, the suit was so big, it acted like a flotation device, haha.  She was also a little nervous about doing it right.  She took a HUGE breath and then when Jeff tried to put her under, she floated to the top!  Jeff had to baptize her again and the second time, he stood on her feet to hold her under.  It was funny and something she will always remember.  The spirit was there and everything ran so smoothly.  It was a beautiful baptism and we are so proud of her.  She has such a desire to choose the right and to understand the gospel.  We are so proud of her and hope she will always remember the spirit she felt on this day.  We hope she will always remember that no mistake is ever bigger than our love or the love her Savior and that she can always repent and become as clean as she was the day she was baptized.

Savanna had a few days off after her testing day before she went back full time, and so did her best friend, Cooper, who also started kindergarten this year.  So my friend, Jordyn, and I took the kids who weren't in school to the zoo!  It was a great day!  The zoo is always fun, but having best friends at the zoo is unbeatable.  It was a fantastic day!
