just getting ready for church

Heidi has become so independent lately.  She likes to remind me that she can do everything herself.  It's kind of nice that she buckles herself into her carseat, gets herself dressed, and now likes to do her own hair.  Thankfully she just wants to comb it out and get it smooth and then she lets me style it.

Savanna must be with Heidi at all times, of course.  Savanna has to have her own stool and her own comb so she can do what Heidi does.

When I painted Heidi's fingernails we had to paint Savanna's too.  She was so cute with her painted little nails.  She kept holding her hands up to show us.

I love how much they love each other.  Not that they get along perfectly all the time, but it is so obvious how much they love each other.  I love how you can see Savanna watching her big sis in this picture.  They play the cutest little games together and they light up when they see each other after being apart.  They both laugh the hardest when they are playing some little game together.

Savanna is hilarious.  Heidi always talks with her hands and Savanna is usually right behind her babbling and making the exact same hand gestures.  It cracks us up.  I love these two little ones so much and I love watching them love each other more than anything else in the world.

bruiser

Poor Savanna.  She is very rarely not sporting a bruise on her head.  This one might be the worst one yet, although the picture really doesn't do it justice.  Plus, it actually looks better than yesterday.  It's not that Savanna has no caution, it's just that she doesn't have a whole lot of it.  She is so curious and seems to find trouble wherever she goes.  She also gets super excited about things and takes off a little faster than her little body is ready for.  I'm sure people think I either beat her or don't watch her and I hope the bonking her head phase ends soon.

Yesterday I was trying to take a fast shower before someone came to pick up Heidi's old bedding I was selling.  Savanna naturally followed me into the bathroom and like she always does, walked over to the shower to throw her toys or whatever was currently in her hands in.  She tripped on the bath mat and slammed her little head on the tile.  I felt so bad and was actually quite relieved it was her head that hit and not her mouth.  My hair was full of shampoo and there wasn't a whole lot I could do immediately.  Of course 5 seconds later Heidi came running in to tell me the doorbell was ringing.  Of course it was.  I quickly washed the shampoo out of my hair, kissed Savanna's head, threw a towel over my head and put on a robe so I could answer the door in all my glory.  Not my proudest moment, but I guess that's just life.  On the plus side the weather turned out to be glorious and we spent the entire day at the park and going for walks.  I have no doubt Savanna will be sporting bruises all summer with the way she plays at the park! She was so funny on the slides because she was too excited to sit down before sliding and would just start running down only to fall backwards and slide down on her back.  And yes, I was right there and Heidi was right behind her.  The girl is speedy and completely unpredictable.  We love her to pieces and the bruise only gives us more reasons to keep kissing her little face.

the things she says

I
I am sure that everyone with a 3.5 year old hears the funniest things.  We are constantly laughing at the things that come out of Heidi's mouth.  A lot of the things she says are repeats of things she hears us say, I'm sure.  Then there are things that she misunderstands and says in the wrong context that crack us up.  Then there are things she comes up with that we have no idea where she heard them.  Some are funny and some are just sweet.  I try so hard to remember and write down what she says, but I usually get busy and forget.  Obviously they sound cuter when you can actually hear her voice and see her face and accompanying hand motions, but hopefully the videos I have will help me remember that part.  Due to our computer issues this will be a slow process on my end,  but I wanted to record a few of my favorites.

*Getting out of the car at the library, Heidi exclaimed, "I'm freezing to Beth in this wind!"

*Me: Dad's at a meeting in Green River today.  I asked him how it was and he said it was pretty brown.
Heidi: (starts laughing) I think dad meant to say pretty good.  Silly dad.

*"I have the cutest little voice." (says this at random times)

*"Savanna has the cutest little personality."

*"Savanna, you're so cute and friendly."  (everything she likes is usually described as cute and friendly)

*Heidi: Why is dad at work on a Sunday?
Me: I guess he's the only one who can fix anything.
Heidi: He must be pretty special.

*When she puts on anything she thinks is really pretty, she repeatedly says, "This dress is gorgeous"--which sounds like gor-juss.

*"I sure am a busy little bean today."

*"Savanna, I think you should get off the table immediately.  You and glass bowls don't mix."

*"I need a little privacy, please"--says this whenever she is in the bathroom.

*Every night after I tuck Heidi into bed she says, "Sleep tight, mom.  Don't get a headache."  I guess that's a sign I get headaches too often.

*She likes to lecture people on their health.  She tells Jeff how he needs to eat more vegetables and less ice cream and recently told her grandma to drink water with her lunch instead of soda.  I wonder what she lectures everybody on at preschool.

*"Savanna, will you talk for me?  Can you say, 'mama?'  Can you say, 'dada?'  Can you say 'hair bow?'"  If she can get her to say hair bow I will fall over in shock.

*She likes to take care of Savanna and often refers to herself as "mom".  For example, while trying to wipe Savanna's face she said, "Savanna, hold still for mom."  Poor Savanna, she really does have two moms most of the time.

*"I am worried sick about dad."  (said this when she found out he went to work in the middle of the night)

*"I am definitely not happy about this."

*Lately if you ask her something and she doesnt' want it or want to do it, she will say, "No, I don't want to color right now (or whatever you ask about), but thanks for asking."

*"Heidi Magdalena Hunziker needs to pee."

*While jamming out during a dance party, "My arms are getting skinnier!"

*Heidi: Savanna, get your hands off my lunch, you mean pot.
Me: Heidi, that isn't nice.  Don't talk to Savanna like that.
Heidi: Savanna, get your hands off my lunch, you nice pot.

*Me: I really want a new vacuum.
Heidi: Sometimes we don't get what we want.

*"Savanna, what's all this hullabaloo about?"  (a book we recently checked out from the library used the word hullabaloo)

*"Can you imaginary if a leprechaun came to our house?"
