mount washington

Our second day in New Hampshire we went to Mount Washington--the highest point in New Hampshire and where the highest wind speed in the world was recorded.  It was an overcast day so the view wasn't as good as it could have been, and it was actually a little chilly, which we were not prepared for compared with the heat we have had in the south this summer.  We had a great time with Michael and Gabby and it was a cool thing to experience.  We just loved the beauty of the northeast and the cooler temperatures felt really nice!

the northeast

We had a great time in Massachusetts, but New Hampshire and Maine completely stole my heart.  The coast, the lighthouses, the scenery.  I would go back in a heartbeat.  The girls loved climbing the rocks to get to the first lighthouse we saw and playing on the beach.  Heidi picked up a seashell and then realized there was a crab in it!  Hilarious! The lighthouses were as beautiful and scenic as I pictured they would be, possibly even more so.  Getting to enjoy this beauty with Michael and Gabby was the icing on the cake.  I loved this day!

salem and salisbury beach

On our third day we made our way up to see Michael and Gabby in New Hampshire.  On the way we stopped in Salem and went to the museum and dungeon from the Salem witchcraft trial days.  It was fascinating and again, we learned a lot.

After the witch museum, we went to Salisbury beach.  Oh mercy.  The girls had the best time.  They really haven't any real beach time and they had so much fun.  We even let them try some cotton candy for the first time.  Caimbree loved playing in the sand.  Heidi loved searching for seashells.  Savanna was a ball of excitement over all of it.  They had such a blast and I hope I will always remember the joy on their faces in the 3 hours or so that we spent at the ocean!
