fall vacation, part 2 (clingman's dome)

A cold snap came through and Saturday morning was super chilly.  Plus we decided to go to Clingman's Dome before it got to packed, which was a wise decision.  It was a super half mile hike on a paved road.  Clingman's Dome is the highest elevation in the Smoky mountains.  The view was unbelievable!!  You could see the fall colors looking down and it was seriously breathtaking.  Unfortunately it was also super windy at the top and bitter cold.  Heidi was a serious champ and didn't complain hardly at all.  She was just so thrilled to be on vacation and we had the best time with her cheerful, excited self.  Caimbree also did really well!  I don't think she made a peep and just stared at everything.  She loves to be outside.  Savanna let us know loudly how cold she was and we let her ride in the stroller most of the way bundled in blankets.  She doesn't handle being tired well and she was definitely exhausted from not sleeping the night before.

On the way down we had Savanna bundled up really tight.  Heidi exclaimed, "Oh Savanna!!  You look sooo cute!!  You're my little Dorito!!!"  We didn't have the heart to tell her the word she was looking for was, "burrito".  It was so adorable and everyone around was just smiling at her cuteness.  A couple people commented on what a sweet girl she was.  She really was taking care of her little sisters this whole trip and it was so sweet.  It was a lot warmer on the way down thankfully.  It was a great start to our first day in the mountains!
