poor little heidi bug

If you know Heidi, you know she adores school.  She especially lives for the fun days. Unfortunately, Heidi has a bit of bad luck when it comes to these fun dress up days.  Tuesday night she was excitement as she showed me how she was going to wear mismatched earrings and one of them backwards. She picked her clothes.  She planned her hair.  Wednesday morning I heard her crying in her room.  When I went up, she said she couldn't go to school and didn't feel well.  I thought she was just excited/nervous/tired.  I figured she didn't sleep well because she was too excited.  I told her to get up and that she probably just needed breakfast. She wouldn't get up.  She said her stomach hurt again.  She wouldn't get dressed.  So I let her teacher know she wouldn't be there.  Heidi bawled and bawled.  I asked her if she was crying because she didn't feel well or because she was disappointed.  She said, "I'm just so sad. I miss every fun day.  I have been looking forward to Wacky Wednesday this whole year."  It was heartbreaking.  That day she just kept getting worse.  I thought it was stomach because she kept complaining about her stomach, but she never got sick.  I took her temperature later morning and it was climbing.  She was complaining about not being able to walk and just wanted me to hold her in her bed.  So I laid next to her while Savanna was at school and Caimbree played dress up in her closet.  Her teacher asked if I could get a picture of her in a certain pose and send it to her.  She didn't feel up to it until almost 3 pm, but when she did, she asked if she could wear her Wacky Wednesday clothes and if I would do her hair like she had planned.  It ripped my heart in half because I knew how incredibly sad she was to be missing this day. That night her fever hit 104 and Thursday she was still pretty miserable.  Friday I decided to just take her in and make sure it wasn't strep before the weekend.  We found out she had influenza b and an ear infection.  The flu didn't surprise me based on her symptoms but she hadn't been complaining of any ear pain.  By Saturday morning her fever was gone and other than cough and stuffy nose, she is pretty much back to normal and ready to try school again.  Poor Heidi just can't catch a break this year.  I hope this is the last illness she has for a long time!

wacky wednesday

 Savanna found out that her school was going to dress up for Wacky Wednesday during Dr. Seuss week. I don't think I have seen anyone quite as excited as she was to actually get to do a dress up day.  She has never complained when she saw Heidi dressing up for fun days, but I guess she must have been waiting and waiting for her turn.  She wanted the same donut hair Heidi had last year.  She picked her clothes out the night before and was dressed and ready by 6:30 the next morning.  She was just a happy ball of excitement!  She came home from school just over the top excited and happy about all of the fun Dr. Seuss activities they had done. She was especially excited about the oobleck they had made and couldn't wait to show me the recipe that came home in her folder.  I love this happy little spirit. She really, truly is just a happy, carefree little person with a giant sized heart.  I am glad she had such a wonderful day!

we love the lake

 In between rainstorms, we have had some really beautiful weather.  The kind of weather that means I basically get absolutely nothing done inside the house because we try to spend every second outside.  As soon as we drop Heidi off at school, Savanna starts asking if we can go to the lake.  She and Caimbree absolutely love spending time there which is perfect, because it really is probably my very favorite place in our town.  I have so, so many memories with the girls at this lake.  When we moved here almost 3 years ago, we went to the lake at least 5 nights a week.  The girls were so little.  I love watching the seasons change as we circle the lake.  I love how the girls still want to stop at the bench and throw rocks and pine cones in the water.  They chase each other, they laugh, they hold hands.  We see ducks, geese, fish, and lots of turtles.  We have great conversations when we are there and it is just such a beautiful setting.  I hope the girls have as many memories of this lake as I do!

When Savanna found out Heidi's best friend's sister was Savanna but spelled with an H at the end, she thought it would be wildly funny to start adding an H to the end of her name.  I have asked her if she wishes her name had an H and every time she says, "No.  I just think it's funny".  When she started bringing home school papers with her name that way, I really started laughing thinking about how her teachers must be so confused.  That Savanna is seriously one hilarious, hilarious little girl and we love her little sense of humor oh so much.

warm weather

 The temperatures have been so much warmer the last few weeks and for that, we are so very grateful.  Sadly we have had massive amounts of rain to put a damper on the warm temps, but we have had a few days with breaks in the rain and we have tried to soak up and use every minute of those days and sunshine we can get!  One day the girls had on their rollerskates, which is always a fun adventure!

Most of the time we are on walks or bikes.  Caimbree wanted to ride in the strolled one day, but with a stack of books haha.  She read to me the whole time.

On Friday when Heidi got home from school it was about 79 degrees so they popped on their swimming suits and played with waterguns until Jeff got home.  It was a fun afternoon and man oh man did that sunshine feel amazing!

a few extra days off

 There has been so much nasty sickness going around and so many kids were missing school because of it, they cancelled a few days.  One of the days off we had beautiful weather!  I was on the treadmill and the girls were playing a little 'hotel' game.  They had their sleeping bags out and suitcases packed.  It was the cutest game.  I had about 5 minutes left and Heidi asked if they could go outside.  I said that was fine and I would be right out.  What I didn't anticipate was that they would be changing into swimming suits and getting soaked!!  It was hilarious!  I guess 65 degrees feels really warm after a long, cold winter!  They were playing that they were at Holiday World.  The ride was where they would ride a balance bike and water would get dumped on their heads.  It was very creative and they had an absolute blast. I love seeing them play creative games all together.

During one of the days off Heidi was eating a tootsie pop from her Valentines loot from school. I told her about the owl commercial from when I was a kid about the owl counting how many licks to the

middle of a tootsie pop.  About 20 minutes later she popped out of the office and said, "236!"  When I asked her what she was talking about, she said she counted the licks.  Later I went into the office and saw that she not only counted, but was recording the licks.  Such a funny girl.

The other day one of the parents of another child in Heidi's class sent me a picture of her son's spelling sentences.  Heidi is so incredibly nice and such a great friend!  I always tell her that is her super power and apparently I'm not the only one who notices!
