Gampa and Gampa

This last weekend we were lucky enough to have Jeff's parents come up and visit.  Heidi was so excited to see "gampa and gampa".  It was so funny because she would point at Peggy and say, "gampa", then she would point at Bruno and say, "gampa".  Then she would clap her hands and say, "Yay!"  It was so cute and we were so grateful they were able to come up and spend time with Heidi.  She is so lucky to have wonderful grandparents.  Gampa spoiled Heidi with candy and when Peggy held a piece for her, she stuck the whole, huge piece in her mouth at once.  This kids loves her sugar.
After Jeff's parents left Heidi was sad and kept looking for them.  She walked around the house saying, "Gampa?  Uh oh!  Gampa?  Ohhhh," with a very sad look on her face.

Here is a funny story that happened last night.  It has nothing to do with this post, but I don't want to forget it.  Every time Heidi toots we will look shocked and say, "Heidi!"  So last night we were reading scriptures before bed and Heidi was sitting on my lap.  She tooted and before we could say anything she got a huge grin on her face, opened her eyes really wide, and said, "HEILA!" I seriously could not stop laughing.  I don't know where she picked up calling herself Heila but it is so funny to hear.  This girl cracks me up.

18 months

Can you believe this little girl turned a year and a half on Sunday?  We LOVE this age!

Height: 31.5 inches--25%
Weight: 19 lbs. 2 oz--5 %

We are excited Heidi is finally on the growth curve for weight.
*Heidi is very, very girly in every way.  She swings her arm when she walks, she loves all things pretty--pretty dresses, pretty hair, pretty nails, pretty bows, etc.  Oh, and she is completely terrified of all bugs.
*Extremely cautious.  She won't even walk on cracks in the asphalt. She will come to a dead stop, point to the crack and say, "HOLE".  Then she will take a giant step over the "hole" to make sure she doesn't "fall in".
*Calls herself "Hei-la"

*Loves to sing and she likes to make up her own songs about whatever she is thinking of at the time.  "Elmo--ah, Elmo--oh, dada--ah, dada-oh!"  We can't get enough of her little songs.
*Talker.  I don't even know how many words she can say, but it is definitely a lot.
*It looks like she'll be a right hander.
*She has 16 teeth.
*Goes through phases of what she likes to eat.  A week ago she was into bananas.  Now she won't touch them.  Currently she is into apples and cheese.

*Loves to color--especially at her little table.  She thinks it is wildly funny if I draw a picture of daddy with blue hair.  She will point and laugh and say, "Dada!  Blue Hair!  Oh Dada!"
*Still loves, loves, loves to read.
*Knows the colors red, yellow, blue, green, orange, white, purple, and pink.  Her favorite color is yellow.  If she sees anything yellow she points and says, "OH LA LELLO!"
*Likes to put things right up to her cheek and say, "Ohhhh"...stuffed animals, pillows, diapers, etc.
*If you ask her where dad is she will always say, "wood".  Apparently he spends a lot of time keeping us warm.
*We are working on being more reverent during prayers.  The folding arms thing isn't really happening, but she will say "AMY!" (Amen) at the mention of the word 'prayer'.

 *Still a horrible, horrible traveler.
*Knows the shapes heart, star, square, circle, rhombus, and triangle.
*Loves her mom.  I know it won't be long before she realizes that she would rather be with just dad, but for now, she wants to be with mom 24/7.  She would rather play with dad but wants mom in the room while they are playing.  I know it's normal for kids to be attached to their parents, but she is quite extreme about her attachment.
*Knows the letters A, B, D, E, H, I, K, L, M, O, P, S, T, V, X, Y, and Z.
*Doing much better sitting in her high chair instead of the table to eat.  She doesn't eat as much in her chair, but we feel good that she's in her chair.
*Loves the phone but when someone tries to talk to her on the phone she just stares at the phone and smiles or whispers so they can't hear her.
*Anyone she sees walking outside she refers to as "kid".  This comes from watching all the kids at the crosswalk when school gets out.
*Loves to be tickled.
*Still loves to climb.
*We absolutely love watching her try to jump.
*Likes being around other kids, but does not like feeling smothered.  She likes her space.
*Generally still takes two naps a day, depending on what time she gets up in the morning.

Happy 1/2 birthday, Heids!
I never knew my heart was capable of so much love until you came along!

happy v-day

We had such a fun Valentine's Day with our little love bug.  We put balloons in Heidi's room last night and boy oh boy was she excited to see them when she woke up.  She kept saying, "WOW!"  "Ohhh!  Pretty!"  Then she repeatedly waved at them saying, "Hi balloon!"

I had to work today but Jeff said all she wanted to do was play with her balloons today.  She would hold one and then it would float away and she would point at it and excitedly say, "PEASE!!  PEASE!!" until you retrieved it for her.

Who knew balloons could be so much fun??

jeff turns the big 3-0

On Monday Jeff turned 30!  Happy Birthday to the greatest husband and dad ever!  We tried to make his day special in spite of our busy schedules.  Heidi helped me make waffles in the morning and surprise Jeff with breakfast in bed.  Then Heidi got to play with daddy all day while mommy went to work.  Then we had to hurry over to give our house plans to our builder.  We came home, ate dinner and had some friends over for cheesecake.  Sadly, we didn't get one picture of the day, but we had a fun day and we are all so grateful to have such an amazing man in our lives!

"Pease"

Whenever Heidi wants something she says, "pease" in a really sweet little voice.  It's really hard not to give in because she asks so nicely.  This morning when I was changing her diaper the zipper on her pajamas broke.  I changed her into her favorite lounge around the house duck pjs.  Since they have no feet I put socks on her.  When I opened the door to the closet she saw her hat.  She sat straight up and starting pointing saying, "ha...ha...ha mama".  I guess she thought I wouldn't give it to her so she started saying, "PEASE!  HA!  PEASE!"  So naturally I gave it to her.  She has been sporting it all morning.  She has been so funny lately in general.  This morning I asked her if she was a baby.  She said, "No?"  (She always says 'no' like it's a question).  Then I said, "Are you a kid?"  She replied with, "No?"  Finally I asked her, "Are ou a toddler?"  She got a huge grin and said, "Doddler".  The way she said it had me laughing so hard.  What would I do without this little 'doddler'?
